Black Everywhere®, a non-profit organization headquartered in Long Beach, California, is now featured on the popular Netflix cooking show--Bake Squad.
Black Everywhere® began as a book club in 2012, but when participants failed to read the book, the club founder pivoted. Founder Jamaica Aali now serves as the Executive Director of the organization, which has 20,000 members in eleven cities nationwide. The stated aim of Black Everywhere® is to bring Black people together in positive ways that include health and wellness activities, community service, social events and travel. Bake Squad is a Netflix original series. The show features Christina Tosi (CEO of Milk Bar) and a team of four professional bakers who prepare elaborate desserts for guest judges. Bake Squad prepared a dessert to celebrate the anniversary of Black Everywhere®, and Jamaica Aali served as guest judge (view trailer).
About Jamaica Aali
Jamaica Aali is the recipient of the Spirit of Long Beach Award, recently served as the keynote for the Long Beach City College Black/Pan-African Graduation, and is a UC Berkeley alumna. A south Los Angeles native, she attended Phillips Exeter Academy--a selective independent boarding school--as a scholarship recipient. She now resides bicoastally in Southern California and Atlanta, Georgia.
