About the Event

Join Black Everywhere in giving back by serving a meal to Philadelphia's homeless citizens. Here are the details:

  • Event Description: Looking for an opportunity to give back? What better way than to serve a meal to some of Philadelphia's citizens experiencing homelessness?

  • Commitment: Serious commitments only! We only have 10 slots, so please do not RSVP unless you are firmly committed to attending.

  • Volunteer Requirements: New Volunteers: All new volunteers must create an account on their website and sign a waiver here: Volunteer Waiver. Account Creation: Anyone who will be participating must create an account and sign up online. You cannot just show up the day off and participate in the meal service. This is a landing page specifically for our group that will show only your reserved shift. Please do this immediately after RSVPing.
  • Age Requirement: This service event is for adults 18 years and older only, no exceptions.
  • Service Tasks:Plate food Walk trays out to guests seated in the dining room Clear dishes when guests are finished eating Support with miscellaneous cleaning tasks like wiping tables and filling napkin dispensers
  • Dress Code:Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops allowed). Volunteers should wear pants, socks, and shoes. Hairnets, aprons, and plastic gloves will be provided.
  • Parking: There is a free parking lot on the north side of Vine Street West. Cross 13th Street, and make the next right into the parking lot between Roman Catholic High School and the facility. You will see the sign on the gate just before the entrance to the lot. If you hit Broad Street, you’ve gone too far.

  • Philly House: For over 140 years, Philly House (formerly known as Sunday Morning Breakfast Mission) has been a physical and spiritual sanctuary, empowering the homeless, hungry, and hurting of Philadelphia. Today, it remains the second oldest homeless shelter in the country.
