Take a Hike! Moderate Hike! (Philadelphia, PA)

We’re excited to invite you to join Black Everywhere for an invigorating hike from Bells Mills West Trailhead! This event is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, connect with fellow members, and challenge yourself on a scenic trail. Here’s everything you need to know:

• Meeting and Departure: We’ll gather for a meet-and-greet at the Bells Mills Road West parking lot at 9:50 a.m., and we’ll start our hike promptly at 10:00 a.m. Please be on time, as we will be leaving right at 10:00 a.m. sharp. The hike is expected to end around 12:00 p.m.

• Trail Details: This hike will take us across the scenic Forbidden Drive, providing a mix of hilly terrain and wooded areas. It’s not a flat-terrain walk like along Kelly Drive—be prepared for a more challenging and rugged experience. Sturdy hiking boots or sneakers with good traction are highly recommended to navigate the gravel, rocks, and inclines.

• What to Bring: Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated and consider packing bug spray, sunscreen, and a hat or scarf for added protection. If you have allergies or asthma, don’t forget to bring your EpiPen or inhaler. For the ladies, braiding or tying down your hair is suggested to avoid any unexpected encounters with nature.

• Safety and Preparedness: This hike is contingent upon favorable weather conditions. The event may be canceled if there is lightning or ice. Be aware of your surroundings, as the area is frequented by bikers, joggers, and other hikers.

• Additional Tips: Leave behind makeup and cologne; we’re going to sweat a bit and get dirty. Hiking poles might be helpful but aren’t required. Remember, this is a great chance to get to know fellow members, so come ready to chat and enjoy the outdoors!

• Parking: Park in the main parking lot; if it’s full, there’s another lot about half a block away.
