About the Event
- Event Overview: Join Black Philadelphia for an exhilarating hike on the Orange Trail, where we’ll venture off the beaten path to uncover some of the area’s hidden landmarks. This adventure will take us through diverse terrain as we search for intriguing spots like Devil's Pool, the Fingerspan Bridge, and the Frog Pond. Prepare for an exciting and scenic exploration of nature’s wonders!
- Important Details: Parking: The upper level parking lot is closed due to construction. Please enter “Wises Mill Road” into your GPS. Upon arrival, make a right when you reach the creek to access the lower level parking lot near Valley Green Inn. Allow extra time to find parking as this is a popular location. Agenda:9:50 a.m.: Meet and greet at the lower parking lot next to Valley Green Inn. This area is frequented by many, so ensure you give yourself ample time to find a spot. 10:00 a.m.: We will start our hike promptly. Please be on time as we will not wait for latecomers. 12:00 p.m. (approx.): We expect to complete our hike around this time.
- Hiking Details:The trail is expected to be hilly and rocky, providing a moderate challenge. This is not a flat-terrain walk; rather, it will involve steep and uneven paths through wooded areas. If you have recent surgery or severe joint issues, consider a less challenging route along the flat road beside the creek. We will follow a different route on the Orange Trail, so be prepared for a potentially unfamiliar path.
- What to Bring:Footwear: Wear sturdy hiking boots or sneakers with good traction. Avoid sandals or flip-flops. Gear: A bottle of water and a light snack, such as granola bars or fruit, are recommended. Bug spray, sunscreen, and a hat or scarf may be helpful, but are not usually necessary. Dress in layers to adjust to changing temperatures, and bring your EpiPen or inhaler if needed. Other Tips: Braid or tie down long hair to avoid unexpected encounters with insects. Leave makeup and cologne at home as we will be sweating and navigating through rough terrain.
- Safety and Etiquette:Be mindful of your surroundings as the area is popular with bikers, dog walkers, and occasionally horseback riders. We will take breaks during the hike, but maintain a brisk pace.
- Additional Information:If you need a ride, please post a comment below to connect with others. If you're running late, update your RSVP and inform us via comment, call, or text.
- Cancellation Policy:Please update your RSVP at least 24 hours before the event if you are unable to attend. Failure to do so will be considered a "no-show."
- Disclaimer:By RSVPing, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Black Philadelphia Group Organizers, Co-Organizers, Asst. Organizers, Event Organizers, and/or Host(s) for any injuries, damages, or liabilities incurred before, during, or after the event.
