Red Tent Ethiopian Vegan - London

Last year I had a crappy lunch at an “Asian Fusion” restaurant in Whitechapel and decided to look elsewhere for a good meal. Luckily, there was a street food market nearby where I discovered Red Tent Ethiopian Vegan. I had just paid $30 for a crap lunch but Red Tent offered Red Lentil Stew with rice for $8. And the portion was enough for 2 meals.

The owner, Helen, cooks and keeps the line moving! Red Tent is at various markets during the week, so look them up if you’re in London.

Leo the Baker - Kent UK

Leo Maxlhaiele is a baker based in Kent and hails from Mozambique. He bakes artisanal breads and pastries at weekly markets in Sevenoaks Kent. Sevenoaks is located 1 hour south of London, so it might be worth the trek there to check out his bakes. Leo also has a popular Youtube channel where he documents his daily preparations for market day. I find his baking videos very relaxing to watch oddly enough.

Yuzu Khoso is my go to seasoning when I want to amp up flavor. It’s at Trader Joes and Whole Foods now.

Wax On Hi-Fi

Cuisine: Japanese Creole Fusion

Location: Los Angeles (DTLA), CA

Website: waxonhifi.com

I finally got to Wax On HI-FI. I love how the restaurant is a curated around music and their unique cuisine. All music is played on vinyl. We came on a Sunday earlyafternoon. We were greeted by Jill Scott playing throughout the restaurant and our server. The vibe was super chill during our stay.

Selections:

🍸Drinks: "Spicy Honey" and "So Fresh, So Clean" both drinks were yummy and not over powered by alcohol.

Build Your Own Bowl

First time trying a build your own bowl soup restaurant. My vegan mushroom bowl w/ tofu, fresh shrooms & Sichuan pepper sauce was super good.  Good value for $ at $17 for a huge bowl….

IRVINS Potato Chips - Worth It?

I wanted to try salted egg flavor since its has been popping up in various snacks. Irvins run about $10 a bag so wanted to see what the fuss was about. Definitely different. Chips are coated in a eggy hot chili powder with curry leaves added for extra crunch. I’d rate a 8/10. The chips are HOT. A 10/10 on my fire scale.
