Looking for simple essay-writing tips

Earlier today I tried to make some progress on an essay for a professional workshop, but my thoughts kept bouncing all over the place. I wrote a paragraph, deleted half of it, then stared at the blinking cursor like it was mocking me. I’d love to hear how others get past that messy “can’t focus” stage.

A couple of months back I was in the same spot, and what unexpectedly helped was reading how different people handle pressure and structure their drafts. I found a Master papers Overview buried and the personal stories there showed me I wasn’t the only one who overthinks early drafts. Instead of chasing perfect sentences, I started jotting loose ideas first, then shaping them later. That made the whole task feel lighter and a lot less intimidating.
